Digital Painting, Experimental 3D Animation, Public Art, Digital Placemaking, Media Architecture, Co- Immersive Cine- Installations, Sci-Art, Machine Learning, and AI-generated Art

My work uniquely combines digital painting, experimental S3D animation, immersive installation, and media architecture. The scope of what is considered ‘painting’ has been expanded due to my findings over the last 30 years. These ‘paintings’ are often unframed and animated as a cine-installation, 360° media, or cinema projection. My research focus is interpreted across various practice-based mediums, exhibitions, festivals, and scholarly writings.   Recently, I have been exploring machine learning, AI art practice, and theories in creative fields such as media art, music, performance, and literature.
My research and creative works have been included in various exhibitions, peer-reviewed publications, competitions, and events. My creative works have been extensively recognized at a variety of levels (local, national, and international).
I have written 29 proposals for research grants from the Ministry of Education in Singapore and the National Arts Council in Singapore. These grants are highly competitive and are open to researchers all over the country. I was awarded 13 research grants as a Principal Investigator (PI) and 2 as Co-PI, totalling over half a million dollars in monetary value. I currently have 1 research proposal under review. The impact of my research is highlighted by its dissemination through a range of channels at an international level. These include two published books , book chapters, peer-reviewed oral presentations, and published proceedings, and peer-reviewed journal articles. Also, the collaborations with a diverse range of scholars and practitioners from different disciplines internationally evidence the influence of my work on the academic community. Since 2008, I have had 40 exhibitions, 114 screenings and have been awarded 35 awards for experimental film-making.
